It's November. When Meg comes home from school, Charles Wallace tells her he saw dragons in the twins' vegetable garden. That night, Meg and Charles Wallace go to the vegetable garden and meet the Teacher (Blajeny), who explains that what they see isn't a dragon at all, but a cherub named Proginoskes. It turns out that Charles Wallace is sick, and Blajeny and Proginoskes have come to help him get better... and in doing so, they keep the world in balance and save it from the evil Echtros.
Meg, Calvin, and Mr. Jenkins (the elementary school principal) must get inside Charles Wallace to fight this battle and save his life, and thus the entire universe.
